The Steel is Stainless

I was actually going to do 'Stainless steel instead of just steel but I think it would start to look complicated with all of that cutlery. I mean, you can only just make out what that actually says.

Smooth Talker

Not as good as I hoped it would be. I used a credit card to cut the letters. Maybe it would've looked better with thinner letters and crisper edges; maybe.

Full Moon in the Afternoon

Again, decent idea, bad photography. And unfortunately, I don't have Photoshop on my home computer to re-enhance it.

Jam & Crackers

I'm pleased with this and think it's a good idea but the picture is terrible photography. All the pictures are but I suppose I have to get everything on.

De-Caf

And no, it's not great.

Mirror Shine

It does not say 'Mirror Shine' for no reason. The stuff I used is actually some stuff that you use to shine sinks. I didn't know whether to rub it in and use my finger to make the word 'Mirror Shine' out of it. Instead I used the liquid to write the word and I think the result looks pretty neat. I especially like the the text itself; it looks like actual handwriting and looks great. Luckily all of the letters are the same size and are all of the same font.

Wake Up

When I came up with this idea I was struggling to come up with ideas at the time. Rooting through drawers and cupboards looking for things to use I glanced over at my beautiful baby sister Caitlyn and this idea just sprang to mind. I think this photo both is funny and creative. I also think the idea is original which I think is the most important.

Spaghetti Alphabetti

Rooting through tinned cans in one of the cupboards to use for Typography I came across tins of spaghetti which I thought would be usable and interesting to use. The idea is moderately simple and I think the idea itself is good. although looking back at it now I think I could have used better and more creative words other than 'Worms'. I'm thinking maybe something more relating and simple like just 'Spaghetti'.

Eat the Raisins

I'm not impressed with this piece at all. The image in my mind looked a lot better. I can't see many ways to improve it. I don't know, maybe throw in a couple more raisins or even come up with better and more suitable words? I think the problem I have with it is that it looks too simple.

Tooth Picks

Not only struggling to think of ideas at this time I also had other problems during this piece. One was that the lighting in the kitchen was a pain which made the camera angle hard to get right. Another problem was that I could not think of suitable yet, interesting words to use in this piece. So I stuck with the simple 'Tooth Picks' since it was made entirely of tooth picks.

Black Shoe Laces

Yeah. My room does need hoovering.

I came up with this idea when I was pacing up and down my room trying to think of Typography ideas using objects around my room. Then I saw these laces and realised that they would be very easy to make text out of. I was right; except that most of the text created doesn't look very good.

Cotton Balls

This is my favorite up to now. And I only just had enough cotton balls to do this.

Out of all of my ideas this one is probably my favorite. I didn't plan this idea at all. I just happened to be in the kitchen at the time creating other Typography ideas. Then I saw these cotton balls and I thought to myself that I might be able to create something out of them. I really do like the result and I think it looks pretty cool. I almost ran into a couple of problems but they were easily solved. I almost ran out of cotton balls and then I almost ran out of room on one of the kitchen worktops. Overall, I am pleased with the result of this piece.

Daddie's Brown Sauce

Wasting Brown Sauce for the sake of Art.

When I was doing this I only just had enough room on the A4 sheet of paper. Although the quality and result isn't as good as some of my other ideas I do quite like this idea. The funny thing is that I initially wanted to use Red Sauce to spell out the word 'Red' but we didn't have red sauce in at that time. This is just an typical example of that almost anything can be used to create Typography.

I Hate Butter

Surprisingly, I don't hate butter.

The original idea was to scoop out a load of butter and then spell out words using the butter. There were problems doing this. One was that I would have to use a lot of butter and it would be a waste. The other is that because butter is thicker it is harder to create words out of as opposed to say; salt. So instead I just thought I'd carve text into the butter with a knife. The overall result probably not as good but it was more convenient. I may come back to this and produce my original idea. Even if it means wasting butter.

Salt & Vinegar

Even though the flavour was Fish and Chips.

This idea was harder than I initially thought it would be. I think it is a good idea but the hard part was finding whole/semi individual crisps that were shaped as certain letters to make the words 'Salt & Vinegar'. What I was and still am trying to do is to use as many different foods as possible to create Typography out of. And it is hard to come up with good and original ideas.

Typography photos

The examples of Typography that I got hold of are mostly moderately average. I feel this is because most of the logos and text types I took are things I've seen and everyone else has seen many times before. Because we've seen them so much and are used to them we cannot appreciate the quality and the uniqueness of a lot of these everyday logos. So this is why I think the best pictures I took are the elaborate text types I took notice of and used. For example the 'X' made out of spray paint on the ground. This looks brilliant and this is Art because it's different; it's unique. Things like this that you don't take notice of in everyday life always seem to be the most interesting and good to look at and admire when they're made noticeable. Another example of these pictures is the notice board which in fact spells "Polite Notice". An example of the simple working man's mistake. It just seems that you can find great and unique things everywhere (and not just typography) if you just stop and look closer at things you see and don't take a proper notice of everywhere in your not so complex everyday world.

Ever since I first heard this song (I can't remember when, it was that long ago)I wanted and vowed to myself for this to be my funeral song. There's something you didn't know about me... You may have heard it before but it's a beautiful song, so enjoy.
